Developed a comprehensive IoT platform that manages onboard systems in thousands of motorhomes, processes real-time vehicle telemetry through Kafka, and provides APIs for mobile and web applications supporting fleet management, rentals, and customer service.
The Challenge
EHG needed a unified IoT platform to connect and monitor thousands of motorhomes across Europe while streamlining their business operations across multiple brands and countries. They faced challenges with fragmented systems for fleet management, rental operations, and customer service. The platform needed to handle real-time telemetry data from vehicle onboard systems, process millions of IoT events daily, and provide reliable APIs for mobile and web applications.
The Solution
Built a Java and Kotlin microservices platform with Kafka processing millions of IoT events from connected motorhomes daily. Azure IoT Hub connects to onboard vehicle systems providing real-time diagnostics, location tracking, and maintenance alerts. The microservices expose RESTful APIs powering rental management, fleet tracking, and customer service applications. Deployed on Azure with Kubernetes for automated scaling and high availability across European regions.
